The November 15, 2025, the historical center of Modica was brought to life with a special day dedicated to sports and all’inclusion. Thanks to the efforts of the Lions Club in the VIII district, and to the the patronage of the Municipalitythe city has experienced moments of meeting and discovery, showing how the sports you can join different people and enhance the capacity of each.
The slogan chosen for the day, “United in the sport, the same in life”, he enclosed the central idea: the sport as a universal languagecapable of create community more cohesive and participatory.
Sport in the square: three realities, a single message
From 15 to 17, in Piazza Matteotti, in historic centre, are carried out in the demonstrations of sports activities. The three associations have taken to the streets in their experience and their way of interpreting the inclusion:
A. S. D. Conad Fencing Modica
The Fencing Modica for years, teaches the practice of fencing and sword , but also to grow as people: teaching values as the discipline, respect and collaboration. The company participates in competitions at regional, national and international offers spaces for anyone who wants to approach to this sport, even those who have difficulties with visual or motor.
Unsurpassed Modica
This football school welcomes children and young people with different skills, teaching football but also values as uniqueness, respect and motivation. The workouts are designed to ensure the participation of all, allowing each player to contribute according to his possibility.
Olimpia Baskin Ragusa
The baskin is a unique sport, designed for players with and without disabilities. The roles and the rules fit capacityeach athlete, so that everyone can contribute and have fun. L’Olimpia Baskin Ragusa it shows concretely how theinclusion can become everyday practice in sport. At the heart of the project there are cooperation, respect and shared responsibility. The victory depends not only on the individual but from the ability to work and support themselves.
The authorities, and guests: a recognition of the inclusion
While in the square were the activitylocal authorities and distinguished guests were present in’Council hall of the Palazzo San Domenico. Among them:
- Giorgio De Sanctis, President of the Italian Paralympic Committee Sicily
- Daniele Garozzo, Vice-president of the Italian Fencing Federation
- George Little, the honorary President of the FIS
17, the meeting was moved to the Auditorium Pietro Floridia, where institutions and associations have discussed the the role of sport as a tool of inclusion, equality and social participation.
Sport as a tool for equality
The meeting showed how the sports to:
- create ties between different people
- valuing differences and the individual capacity
- encourage autonomy, trust and collaboration
- make community more inclusive
The message is clear: each the person can find their own space and to contribute, without barriers.
Why this day is important
On 15 November, has shown that theinclusion comes from practical experiencefrom the cshare spaces and activities. When associations, institutions, and citizens work together, the community becomes stronger and cozy.
