Each 25 November the world should stop. Not ritual, not as a habit. But to listen to a cry that often remains stifled: one of the women who live with the violence, visible or invisible, daily or sudden physical or psychological.
The international Day for the elimination of violence against women is not a mere memory. Is a collective responsibility. It is the moment in which the company is calling look yourself in the eyes.
Beyond the numbers: the stories that weigh on the heart
Behind each percentage, there is a woman who has had fear. There is a item that remained in my throat. There is a complaint that no one wanted to listen.
The gender-based violence takes many forms:
- shots that leave visible signs
- words that tear in silence
- blackmail economic that trap
- controls and manipulations who empty the identity
- humiliation that becomes routine
It is not an isolated incident. It is a cultural phenomenon that feeds silences, stereotypes, and normalization.
Disability and violence: the invisible part of the problem
The violence affects all of them, but not all in the same way.
The women with disabilities suffer from forms of violence more frequent and more quiet. This happens because they often depend on the figures to support, that can become abusers, meet obstacles in the claimsnot found accessible servicesand live in a society that tends to infantilizzarle or not to believe her.
The most critical factors include:
- dependency forced by caregiver violent
- communication difficulties and lack of accessible tools
- poor preparation of the centres to manage the different types of disabilities
- prejudices that undermine the credibility and autonomy
- Their is a double fight: against violence and against invisibility.
Change the culture, not only the laws
The laws punish, but not educate. The profound change comes first:
- in words that we choose
- in models we teach the children
- ineducation to the consent
- in responsibility male
- in media that tell without blame
- in institutions they listen with respect
The violence does not fight only to protect the women. You fight transforming society.
What can we do, concretely
Every person can be part of the solution:
- Believe those who complaint.
- Intervene when you see an aggressive behavior.
- Share resources, information, useful phone numbers.
- Support the anti-violence centres, even just spreading the existence.
- Educate to respect and freedom.
Each gestureeven small, it is a fracture in the wall of silence.

Because this day still exists
- It exists for those who no longer item.
- For those who can't ask help.
- For those who survive each day silence.
- For those who think they do not deserve a’alternative.
Exists as long as there will also be a single woman who lives in the fear. And until the word “respect” it will not be a guaranteed right, not a privilege.
