The holidays arrive each year, bringing lights, expectations, traditions.
For many people, these are moments of joy and share. For others, however, may be days silent, loads of distance, nostalgia or the sense of exclusion.
Talk about inclusion during the holidays it means to stop for a moment and look beyond what we take for granted. It means to ask ourselves who is on a margins when everyone is talking about party.
When the festival is not for everyone
Not everyone celebrates the same anniversaries. Not all of them have a family with which to meet. Not all of them live these days with lightness.
There are those who feel invisible because:
- Their traditions are not recognized.
- Who lives in a loss recent.
- Those who face difficulty economic.
- Those who simply do not recognize in the dominant model of “perfect party”.
Linclusion born right here: in the recognizes experiences different none less valid of another.
Small actions that speak of respect
You don't need great gestures. Sometimes it takes little to make a person view, welcomed, respected.
A hope that does not exclude. An invitation that leaves freedom of choice. A sincere question instead of an assumption. Say “happy holidays” it may seem a detail, but it is a way to say: there is space for you.
Ask how a person lives these days is an act of listening. Think all’the accessibility of an event it means to say that every body, every need, and has a population of.
Are attention simple. But they have a huge weight.
Areas that are more human, even during the holidays
In the workplace, in school, in the community, the holiday can become a test bench for inclusion.
The flexibility, respect of time, the recognition of the different holidays from the official ones are not concessions: are rights. Rights speaking of dignity, of equal opportunities, of respect for people.
Create spaces really inclusive it means not asking anyone to put aside their identity in order to feel accepted.
Think of those who remain back
During the holidays, the distances sometimes you amplify it. The loneliness weighs more. The difficulty emerge with greater force.
A messagea discreet presence, a kind gesture can become a foothold. Do not need perfect solutions, but rather humanity.
L’inclusion is a daily choice
The holidays are one mirror of the society that we want to be:
- More right.
- More careful.
- More human.
L’inclusion it is not a symbolic gesture or a seasonal theme.
Is a collective responsibilitybased on the human rights and on the awareness that no one should feel out of place.
On Right for all children and adults we believe that change starts from here: small actions the experience of the people at home, even when everything around you speaks of differences.
