🎧 Listen to article read by Nicoletta:
I often stop to reflect on what happens in people's everyday life, and I realize that, even today, there are discrimination, exclusion and rights that are not recognized. It is a reality that affects directly the persons with disabilities, too often treated as if they were an exception, as attendance “other”, almost as if they were foreign to the society.
In the past few days I found myself in front of a news story so absurd as unacceptable: a toilet for persons with disabilities he had been transformed into a closet. To make a more serious matter is the context in which it happened: a health service, a place that should ensure acceptance, protection and respect for human dignity.
The formal was made fromMr. Francesco San Filippo, President the Department of Disability and social policy of the The Movement Against The Currentthat was in company for professional reasons. As A result of the warning, in the space of 24 hours, the toilet has been restored to its proper use.

Bathroom Failure to pretend, used as a warehouse
This episode, however, highlights an uncomfortable truth but noticeable:the rights of persons with disabilities are not recognized automatically, must be required, requested, defended, often conquered with difficulty.
And this is the most painful aspect:
- Because the respect of fundamental rights is not an act of nature?
- Because the accessibility is still perceived as a concession and not a right?
Continue talking about it is necessary. Give a name to these situations, to tell you and denunciarle it is the only way to break the silence and break a culture that normalizes the exclusion.
Call to action
Not to remain indifferent.
If you witness situations of discrimination, barriers, or denied rights, alvin. Discuss. Denunciale.
Support a culture of inclusion, laccessibility is not an exception but the rule, and in which the dignity of people with disabilities to be recognized without having to be continually claimed.
For reports, testimony, or to work together to spread the correct information about the rights:
Because the rights should never depend on the voice of the person he claims them, but be guaranteed to all, always.
